My journey into in my practice initially began as an artist in London, where my focus was on painting, movement and performance. I created pieces that focused on our relationship to our bodies, our anatomy and how we express stories through movement and dance. After finishing art school I made the move to New York to study dance, where I found my fascination in the body evolving more into supportive healing practice. I devoted my time to training as a massage therapist which initiated a new path in schooling, broadening my practice studying modalities such as reiki, myofasical release and craniosacral therapy. I’ve been a practising massage therapist for over 8 years and have had the opportunity of working in various different environments such as spas, health clinics, community based programs and my own personal practice. All of them provided a depth of experience and I have had the pleasure of working with so many different bodies in different phases of transition.

The foundations of my care work have always been rooted in body work, as I started to specialise more in supporting folks around pregnancy and postpartum, I found myself being guided towards birth work. In 2018 I took a doula preparation course, which ultimately felt like an initiation, being in attendance and bearing witness to the continuum of pregnancy is a sacred act and one which I am honoured to be a part of.

I am deeply passionate about reproductive justice and health. As a queer person and someone who has an unseen disability, it has always been imperative that my practice is focused on creating an environment that is inclusive for all people. I am a deep defender of birth rights and bodily autonomy and believe that advocacy is integral in the birth space. My intension is to help facilitate awareness and knowledge regarding our bodies and reproductive health. Everyone has the right to an expansive, compassionate and caring pregnancy, birth and postpartum.

I am also an avid follower of astrology and the cosmos, a fanatic knitter, a lover of wild swimming and dancing is my ultimate joy!

birth work as care work - why inclusivity matters

A doulas role is to be adaptable, we are trained to understand that no pregnant person is the same, to be considerate of any past traumas, experiences and preferences, to make sure that we continue to provide a continuity of care and hold a safe environment. These skills should be applied to supporting ALL people. Intersectional care is integral for birth workers, women already have to fight to get their voices and their rights heard, for those marginalised by society it becomes much harder. Having a doula as your advocate and your ally can be an enormous support and can lead to increased awareness and more positive birthing experiences. Every person who gives birth deserves positive, compassionate and non judgemental care.
